The NCAA has changed a lot of the rules surrounding 7v7 tourney’s at University’s. WSU only allows us to bring one (1) Varsity 7v7 Team and one (1) Varsity Big Man Team. We are also only allowed to bring 20 players for the 7v7 and 8 for the Big Man Team. We will determine who will fill the following positions for this 7v7 tourney:
-Offense: Q, F, H, Z, Y, X, and Center = 7
-Defense: M, S, W, SS, FS, two (2) Corners = 7
-6 additional players who can rotate in at these positions
The following is from the WSU coaches on the plan for the tourney:
There will be a coaches meeting that begins promptly at 8:00 am on the third floor of Stewart Stadium. We will review rules and discuss playing locations and procedures.
Also at 8:00 am, there is a mandatory NCAA education session that all the players must attend. We will hold this on the west bleachers of Stewart Stadium.
Upon completion of the education session, the teams will be able to disperse to their starting locations to warm up and prepare for the first game to begin at 9:00 am.
Because of NCAA rules, we are limited to the distance from campus we can hold camps. Because of this rule, we will be playing all of the 7 on 7 games at Stewart Stadium, the WSU Football Practice Fields, and Ogden High School. The Big Man Challenge will be held in our indoor practice field located by the Dee Events Center. Each team will remain at the same location for the entirety of the round robin games. The tournament will be a true seeding by record from the round robin games and there will be some teams that will need to change locations. We appreciate your cooperation during the transitions.
Each school will be allowed 1 varsity 7 on 7 team and 1 varsity big man team. Each 7 on 7 team can have a maximum of 20 players and each big man team can have a maximum of 8 competitors.
Players who are invited to attend this tourney will need to complete and turn in the attached WAIVER & fill out the SHIRT SIZE PRE-REGISTRATION form. The tourney RULES are also attached:
